How Do I …
Renew a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)?
Renewing your Commercial Driver's License (CDL) in Georgia can be done in person or online.
NOTICE: The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse (DACH) rules state drivers with a “prohibited” Clearinghouse status
1. Are not allowed to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) on public roads.
2. Can not have a commercial driver’s license (CDL) or commercial learner’s permit (CLP).
Beginning July 1, 2024, the Georgia Department of Driver Services will be required to remove the commercial driving privileges (downgrade) from the driver's license of customers that are “prohibited” until the driver completes the return-to-duty (RTD) process. This RTD process is different for each customer. To learn more about the Clearinghouse final rule, visit https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov.
