New Georgia Residents and Out-of-State License Transfers

An out-of-state license is defined as one issued by one of the other 49 states, the District of Columbia and US Territories. You must apply for a Georgia Driver's License within 30 days of becoming a Georgia resident.  All Customer Service Centers can transfer an out-of-state license to a Georgia Driver's License or ID.

Existing GA Residents applying for the 1st time:

  • If you are an existing GA resident, applying for a license for the 1st time over the age of 18, please view the requirements for a Class C License
