License, ID and Permit Types

Below is a list of Commercial, Non-Commercial, ID, and Permit types issued by the Department of Driver Services. Click on the links to view details.

Regular License Class

Class C Driver License

Regular License for anyone 18 and over
Class D Provisional License

License with restrictions for 16 and 17-year olds
Class M Motorcycle License

Motorcycle License
Veteran License

U.S. Armed Forces and National Guard
Honorary Veteran License

Spouse of a veteran of U.S. Armed Forces
National Guard License

National Guard - at least 1 yr
Non-Commercial Classes E and F

Firefighters, Emergency, or Agricultural Vehicles

Learners Permit (Class CP)

Instructional Permit - Teens at least 15 years old
Motorcycle Permit (Class MP)

Motorcycle permit.
Commercial Instructional Permit (Class AP or BP)

Commercial AP and BP permits.
Non-Commercial Instructional Permit (Class EP & FP)

Class EP & FP non-commercial instructional permits.
Learner's Permit(CP) for Visually Impaired Parent/Guardian/Responsible Adult (PDF, 662.95 KB)

DDS offers a special learners permit to 14-year old minors. To qualify, the minor's parent, legal guardian or responsible adult must be visually impaired/legally blind.
