The Advanced Rider Course (ARC), offered by the Georgia Motorcycle Safety Program (GMSP) under the Georgia Department of Driver Services, is a one-day program designed to enhance riders’ basic skills, improve risk assessment, and refine crash avoidance techniques for any street motorcycle.

The ARC sharpens essential riding skills and enhances safety through targeted exercises, making it ideal for riders seeking to elevate their confidence and competence on the road.

Note: There are no time or mileage requirements between courses, allowing immediate progression to the next course.

Course Overview

The ARC includes:

  • A concise classroom session with several interactive activities to boost perception and hazard awareness
  • On-cycle exercises focusing on advanced braking, cornering, and crash avoidance skills

Riders must provide their own street-legal motorcycle, which will be inspected by the Rider Coach using the TCLOCS inspection form. Bring the completed form, proof of motorcycle registration, valid insurance, and, if using someone else’s motorcycle, a notarized letter of permission with proof of insurance covering you.

Course Fees

  • Enrollment Fee: $100.00
  • Out-of-State Fee: $150.00
  • License Test Waiver

Upon successful completion, graduates earn a 90-day Motorcycle License Test Waiver, exempting them from the written and on-cycle skills tests at a DDS Customer Service Center. The waiver is valid for 90 days from the course completion date.

Note: A Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Course Completion Card may qualify you for an insurance discount.
