DRIVER TRAINING INSTRUCTOR

A Driver Training Instructor provides specialized instruction to prepare a student to obtain a license to drive Class C motor vehicles in the state of Georgia.

WHO CAN BECOME A DRIVING TRAINING INSTRUCTOR

Any person employed by a certified driver training school to give driving instructions to students for the purpose of obtaining a license to drive Class C motor vehicles in the state of Georgia.

Individuals interested in becoming a certified Driver Training School Instructor will be subjected to the following rules and regulations:

DRIVER TRAINING INSTRUCTOR REQUIREMENTS

The following is required to become a Driver Training Instructor:

  • Completed New Instructor Application.
  • $30 non-refundable application fee.
  • Complete a national and state fingerprint based criminal background check.
  • Obtain and submit a certified Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) from each state in which they were licensed in the past 5 years except Georgia.
  • Submit a notarized employment letter (on school letterhead) signed by a DDS-certified Driver Training School owner within 90 days of applying.
  • Submit a lab report from an accredited laboratory for your drug screen of marijuana, cocaine, opiates, amphetamines, and phencyclidine completed within 30 days of applying.
  • Complete and pass the DDS administered instructor training and examination.
