Motorcycle Safety Program
GEORGIA MOTORCYCLE SAFETY PROGRAM
The Georgia Motorcycle Safety Program provides motorcycle rider training classes to individuals of all levels. The GMSP’s overall goal is to ensure that the riders taught by our RiderCoaches are equipped with the basic knowledge and skills that motorcyclists of any skill level should know through the curriculum provided by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). The program also promotes motorcycle safety awareness throughout the state.
COURSES WE OFFER
Basic RiderCourse (BRC): The BRC is the best place for a new rider to start. This 2 or 3-day course includes motorcycle knowledge and skill tests. It consists of approximately 5 hours of formal classroom activities and 10 hours of riding instruction (conducted over two or three sessions). The course is a license test waiver program conducted by the state of Georgia Department of Driver Services. Motorcycles and helmets are provided for your use during the course.
Please note that there is also a 5-hour eCourse that is REQUIRED to be completed before the start of the first day of class.
Successful graduates earn a 90-day Motorcycle License Test Waiver. DDS waives the written and riding portions of your Motorcycle License application for 90 days. The 90-days begin at the completion date of your course.
Basic RiderCourse 2 (BRC2): The BRC2 is a one-day course designed for riders who have a permit or motorcycle license and possess basic skills. The goal of this course is to help you further refine your motorcycle handling skills and grow your confidence in your riding ability. Ideal participants are past BRC or BRC2 license waiver graduates looking to gain additional hands-on experience and refund riding skills.

Advanced RiderCourse (ARC): The ARC is a one-day course which utilizes and builds on basic skills as well as helps with personal risk assessment to help riders improve overall riding. It includes a fast-paced classroom segment with several fun interactive activities to improve perception and hazard awareness. Range exercises enhance both basic operating skills and crash-avoidance skills. Improving your braking and cornering finesse is emphasized. The course is beneficial for riders on any type of street motorcycle.
