What is TADRA?

The Teenage & Adult Driver Responsibility Act (TADRA) is a graduated driver’s licensing program for Georgia drivers ages 15–18, featuring a three-step process that builds driving experience through structured education and restrictions, allowing teens to progress from a learner’s permit to a less restrictive license and ultimately a full license.

What is Joshua's Law?

Joshua's Law mandates 16- and 17-year-olds in Georgia complete 30 hours of driver education, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel or 40 hours of parent-taught training, and 40 hours of supervised driving (6 at night) for a Class D License, with military-enlisted 17-year-olds possibly exempt from the permit period.

1. Instructional Permit (CP)

Also known as a Learner’s Permit, this Instructional Permit (CP) is granted to 15-year-olds who pass a written test.

2. Provisional License (Class D)

This license is granted to drivers 16 and 17 years of age who have held an Instructional Permit for 1 yr and 1 day and passed a driving test.

A full, unrestricted Class C driver’s license is granted to individuals aged 18 and older who have successfully completed all requirements.
