CDL TRAINING SCHOOL INSTRUCTOR

A CDL Training School Instructor provides specialized instruction to prepare a student to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), which is required for a career as a truck driver in the United States.

WHO CAN BECOME A CDL TRAINING SCHOOL INSTRUCTOR

Any person employed by a certified CDL Training School to give driving instructions to students for the purpose of meeting commercial driver’s license requirements in the State of Georgia.

Individuals interested in becoming a certified CDL Training School Instructor will be subjected to the following federal and state rules and regulations:

CDL TRAINING SCHOOL INSTRUCTOR REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed CDL Training School Instructor Application.
  • Complete a national and state fingerprint based criminal background check.
  • $30 non-refundable application fee.
  • Obtain and submit a certified Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) from each state in which they were licensed in the past 5 years except Georgia.
  • Submit a signed lab report by an MRO, from an accredited lab, showing the results for a drug screen taken within 30 days of filing the application. The lab report for the drug screening must include the results for the following substances: amphetamines, cocaine metabolites, marijuana metabolites, opiates, and phencyclidine.
  • Submit a completed and signed Medical Card.
  • Submit an employment letter (on school letterhead) signed by a DDS-certified CDL Training School owner within 90 days of applying.
  • Complete and pass the DDS administered instructor training and examination.

  2. To be considered for certification, please submit your information and required supporting documentation online by completing this application.  All required supporting documents must be attached to the application online before it is submitted. Paper applications are no longer accepted
