Commissioner Angelique B. McClendon extends her congratulations to Jay Herzog on his appointment to the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) Board of Directors. Herzog brings decades of business leadership, community service, and deep ties to the State of Georgia to this important role.

A graduate of the University of Georgia, Herzog earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and has spent nearly his entire life and professional career in Georgia, including the last twenty years in Peachtree City.

“Jay’s appointment to the DDS Board of Directors is well-deserved,” said DDS Commissioner Angelique B. McClendon. “His lifelong commitment to Georgia, combined with his proven leadership in business and dedication to community service, will be a tremendous asset to the DDS and the people it serves.”

The DDS Board of Directors plays a critical role in providing oversight and guidance to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable services for Georgia’s drivers.

In 2008, Herzog co-founded Blackjack Paving and Blackjack Milling and Concrete, growing the company into a leading provider of large-scale commercial and multifamily parking lot removal, replacement, and repair services throughout the Southeastern United States. In 2023, the company was successfully sold to private equity, and Herzog continued serving as President through 2025.

Herzog has a strong record of civic engagement, including service on the Peachtree City Development Authority. He remains actively involved in supporting state and local elected officials and participates in a Christian men’s group focused on service and meeting the needs of the local community.

Herzog is married and the father of three children, with two grandsons and another grandson expected in March. He and his wife enjoy an active lifestyle with their family, including traveling, boating, and hiking
