Department of Driver Services (DDS) Supports National Teen Driver Safety Week
To commemorate National Teen Driver Safety Week, October 17 through 23, Department of Driver Services (DDS) is supporting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) campaign “Your Teen is in the Driver’s Seat but You are in Control.” This year’s campaign encourages the parents of teen drivers to continue talking about safe driving and provides advice on how to set the rules before their teens hit the road.
“This year’s message is simple; talking with your teen about safe driving can make a difference,” said DDS Commissioner Spencer R. Moore. “Even though your teen might be gaining some independence with a license, it is important to keep the safe driving conversation going. Always set a good example and enforce the six rules below.”
- Wear a Seatbelt and have passengers do the same
- No speeding
- No distractions
- No alcohol
- No drugs
- Observe extra passenger limits
DDS offers these tips for parents and teens:
- Complete teen driving information can be found on the Agency’s website dds.georgia.gov and on the free mobile app, DDS 2 GO.
- Knowledge testing for a Permit/Learner’s License does not require an appointment.
- Road testing does require an appointment. Schedule a Road Test Appointment.
