The Georgia Motorcycle Safety Program (GMSP) is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the National Motorcycle Safety Fund (NMSF) for grant year 2027. The funding will support GMSP’s ongoing commitment to motorcycle safety by providing helmets for students participating in its motorcycle safety courses.

“We are grateful to the National Motorcycle Safety Fund for this generous investment in motorcycle safety and education,” said DDS Commissioner Angelique B. McClendon. “Providing students with quality helmets reinforces our commitment to making safety a priority from the very first lesson. This funding will help the GMSP equip new riders with the protective gear, knowledge and skills needed to ride responsibly and confidently. Together, we are working to create safer riders and safer roadways for all Georgians.”

Access to proper fitting, protective helmets is an important part of motorcycle safety education. Through this grant, GMSP will continue working to promote safe riding practices and provide students with the equipment needed to support a positive learning experience.

“We are grateful to the National Motorcycle Safety Fund for this generous $5,000 grant and its support of motorcycle safety education,” said Holly Hegyesi, GMSP Manager. “This funding will help us provide helmets for our students and reinforce the importance of wearing proper protective gear every time they ride.”

The grant reflects a shared commitment to motorcycle safety, rider education, and helping motorcyclists build the skills and confidence needed to navigate Georgia’s roadways safely.
