GA Driver Services Commissioner Announces New Governmental Affairs and Communications Director

GA Department of Driver Services (DDS) Commissioner Spencer R. Moore recently announced the addition of  Shevondah Leslie as Director of Governmental Affairs and Communications. She joined DDS on January 3rd to replace Mike Mitchell who is now the Director of Regulatory Compliance at the Agency.

Most recently, Shevondah served as the Staff Director for the Department of Community Supervision’s Misdemeanor Probation Oversight Unit (MPOU) where she was instrumental in recent criminal justice reform initiatives for the State.

“I believe that Shevondah will be a great asset to DDS,” said Commissioner Moore. “She has demonstrated her commitment to public safety issues and programs.  I am confident that her new appointment with DDS will provide many challenges and exciting opportunities.”

At DDS, Shevondah will be responsible for monitoring legislation, working closely with members of the Georgia General Assembly and keeping the Commissioner informed on relevant issues relating to DDS.  She will also manage the Communications Team responsible for social media content, internal and external communications and publicity.

She began her career with the State of Georgia in 1998 as a parole officer with the State Board of Pardons and Paroles. She was later promoted to field operations officer, where she served as a liaison between the parole board and the field staff.

In her personal time, Shevondah enjoys spending time with her husband and three children.
