  • Visit Department of Driver Services (DDS) Early for Photo ID

    To ensure a smooth process when casting a ballot on November 8th, now is the time to ensure you have proper photo identification.

    "Don't wait until Election Day to realize your driver’s license or identification card is missing," said DDS Commissioner Bert Brantley. "Tuesdays are always the busiest days at our DDS centers. Add to that the extra customers who need photo IDs before the polls close, and that is a recipe for significant wait times."

  • Funds Earmarked for Share the Road Initiatives

    Grant funding totaling $97,730 has been awarded to the Georgia Motorcycle Safety Program (GMSP) by the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). The approved funding will be used to increase motorcycle safety awareness and outreach by encouraging all motorists and motorcyclists to Share the Road.

  • Funding Dedicated to Teen Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program (ADAP)

    Department of Driver Services (DDS) Commissioner Bert Brantley recently announced the receipt of a grant award of $48,178.98 from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for continued support of the State of Georgia Alcohol and Drug Awareness Program (ADAP). ADAP is a course designed to increase awareness among teens of the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol and to educate teens on the consequences of operating a motor vehicle while impaired.

  • Supporting State's Electronic Conviction Processing System (GECPS)

    Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) was recently awarded grant funding of $376,961 from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for ongoing support of the State of Georgia Electronic Conviction Processing System (GECPS). GECPS provides a secure, electronic transmission of conviction data from Georgia courts to meet a federally mandated timeframe for posting convictions to individual driving records within ten days of adjudication.

    (Conyers, GA) – This holiday season, the Georgia Motorcycle Safety Program (GMSP), a division of the Department of Driver Services (DDS), is teaming up with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to remind all drivers and riders that Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving and to always plan a sober ride before the holiday parties begin.

    The Department of Driver Services (DDS) is excited to announce the launch of our redesigned agency website at www.dds.georgia.gov. The website has a fresh, contemporary look and is easier for customers to navigate while locating valuable driver’s licensing information.

  • Based on a recent law change, beginning July 1, 2017, drivers in Georgia operating three-wheel auto-cycles (three-wheel motor vehicles controlled by a steering wheel) will no longer be required to possess a motorcycle license or motorcycle learner’s permit. In addition, Georgia residents who wish to legally operate an auto-cycle in Georgia will no longer be required to take the DDS motorcycle knowledge test or motorcycle skills test.

  • Eight Year License or Renewal is $32.00; Eliminates the Five year License for Most CDL Drivers

    Effective July 1, 2017, the fees associated with an 8-year term Georgia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) will be changing as follows:
