DDS COVID-19 Response

The health and safety of the Department of Driver Services (DDS) employees and its customers are of the utmost importance. The agency will follow all established guidelines as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH)  regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic.  DDS encourages all customers to use our Online Services or the DDS 2 GO Mobile App during this emergency period. 

DDS is taking the following measures to help prevent/mitigate the potential introduction and spread of COVID-19.  

  • All in-person services will be provided by appointment
  • All Team Members are provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) such as face masks and gloves 
  • DDS strongly recommends all customers wear PPE while visiting our centers
  • Social distancing practiced by Team Members, and customers use of signage to remain 6 feet apart
  • Increased disinfecting and cleaning at each location including public-facing computers, eye machines, and payment devices
  • Hand Sanitizer provided
  • Protective glass barriers are being installed at service counters
  • Customer capacity limits are enforced
  • Conducting Contactless Road Testing (with an appointment)
  • Temperature checks for Employees and CDL Road Test Customers

COVID-19 License Extensions

Most GA driver’s licenses and ID cards with an expiration date between March 14, 2020, through June 30, 2020, will receive a 120-day extension.

Notices will be mailed, and new cards will be printed and mailed directly to customers. Eligible types include ID cards, commercial (CDL) and non-commercial driver’s licenses, limited permits and driving permits.
