Driver Training Advertising Rule Consideration Memo
The purpose of this memo is to inform you of an important administrative rule change that may be up for consideration. Some portions of the existing Driver Training rules haven't been amended since 2006 and are in part outdated. In an effort to foster consistency and uniformity, the following rule is being contemplated:
- X- DT Rule 375-5-2-10 Location of School
The purpose of this proposed amendment is to expand the capacity in which Driver Training Schools may advertise. The current Driver Training rules stipulate that DT schools are prohibited from displaying a billboard or other public advertisement within 500 feet of any DDS Customer Service Center (CSC). This amendment will maintain the billboard restriction but will allow other public advertisements in or nearby a DDS CSC pending specific approval by the Department.
This amendment will be in compliance with our existing policy of allowing paid advertising in our manuals and on Motor Vehicle Network screens. The amendment will also allow more flexible advertising solutions for school OWICS.
We value your feedback and encourage input from the industry. Please feel free to provide your comments and feedback no later than Monday, September 12, 2016. We can be reached by phone at 678-413-8745 or via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Department's staff looks forward to assisting and answering any questions you may have. Thank you for helping to enhance the integrity of our regulated driver safety programs.
